Nonprofit Management Services of Colorado (NMSC) has an opportunity for a Senior Human Resources Generalist (Sr. HRG) to provide a broad range of HR supports and services, including collaborating with various organizational stakeholders who are responsible for advising on the scope, intent, and application of policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations related to the employment lifecycle.
 

To demonstrate success here at NMSC, our seasoned HR Professional will recommend, develop, implement, administer, coordinate, and/or evaluate HR policies, statutes, programs, and procedures covering several of the following areas:

  • Compensation
  • Employee Relations
  • Employee Services
     

Our Sr. HRG will supervise, direct, and train assigned staff in the coordinating and implementation of employment functions.
 

We’re committed to a great work-life balance here so our offices are closed on Fridays! You’ll get to work Monday - Thursday, typically working 9 hrs/day as our full-time positions here are 36 hrs/week.
 

More about what you’ll get to do as our Senior Human Resources Generalist

  • Oversee day-to-day management of employee relations functions, including but not limited to the completion of disciplinary issues, counseling, and assistance on employee performance issues, support entrance or exit interviewing processes, and leads personnel investigations
  • Proactively keep abreast of, and complies with, labor law regulations including but not limited to:  FLSA, DOL, LOAs, FMLA, STD/LTD, Workers Compensation, FFCRA, ADA, ARPA, and other state or federal employment related regulations
  • Proactively maintain working knowledge of relevant organizational policies and past practices
  • Provide reports, and/or prepare documents as requested (for the use of internal teams including People Strategies, Finance, Budget, and Executive Management)
  • Review HRIS system and performs active data reconciliation, including personnel file management, recordkeeping, and other various personnel file adjustments
  • Annually provide support in the review and editing of frequently used reference materials, such as employee handbook(s), personnel policies, and or organizational guides
  • With respect to assigned staff, provide timely and effective feedback and mentorship, with a high degree of instilling encouragement and accountability; complete performance evaluations, for assigned staff, as well as actively identify opportunities for staff development
  • As needed, provide assistance in identifying departmental budgetary needs and or providing fiduciary recommendations to the Director of People Strategies; may provide support in the review and or development of compensation related projects
  • Collaboratively participate in meetings and or group settings, reflecting diverse participants with possibly differing priorities, with an intent to problem solve in a respectful and inclusive manner

Qualifications

Must haves to be our Senior Human Resources Generalist

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management or closely related field reflecting education in employment law, personnel management, communication, and proactive problem solving
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources Management, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field
    • Must include experience in personnel investigations, creation and application of policies or procedures, and working within complex organizations
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or management level role with direct oversight to coach and mentor assigned staff and experience in supporting or coaching HR Generalists and or other HR personnel
  • Detailed knowledge of HR related best practices, including but not limited to FLSA, DOL, ADA, EEO, FMLA, STD/LTD, with a strong ability to accurately interpret and apply organizational procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound judgment on day-to-day basis regarding assigned and ad-hoc duties with limited instruction/guidance
  • Strong skill set in organizational dynamics, managing workplace relationships, and fostering positive systems of change management
  • Knowledge of organization-specific computer application programs (e.g., Microsoft Office), reflecting intermediate to advanced skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform complex analysis, gather data and produce complex reports
  • Regularly safeguards sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of integrity, at all times
  • Strong skill in effectively de-escalating or diffusing difficult situations
     

Preferred:

  • PHR certification preferred
  • Experience in complex organization with multiple lines (3-5) of business, with over 300 employees preferred
  • Seven (7) years of HR Management or a closely related field preferred
  • Five (5) years of supervision or management experience preferred
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license/proof of insurance
  • Meet our agency driving requirements; no suspensions/less than three (3) tickets in three years
