Description

Nonprofit Management Services of Colorado (NMSC) is seeking a Senior Benefits Specialist to administer, process and maintain company benefits programs including: group health, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan for all supporting organizations. You’ll get to serve as the liaison between our vendors and customers; support daily data entry into our human capital management (HCM) and filing systems; assist with the day-to-day operations of HR functions and duties; and help with the implementation of services.


Our office is in the Denver Metro, CO area - just south of the Denver Tech Center in Englewood, CO. We’re committed to a great work-life balance here so our offices are closed on Fridays! You’ll get to work Monday - Thursday, typically working 9 hrs/day as our full-time positions here are 36 hrs/week.
 

More about what you’ll get to do as our Senior Benefits Specialist!

  • Process employee benefit elections, assuring parameters of elections are met
  • Respond to employee inquiries about our benefits programs and assist with employee enrollment into benefits
  • Assist employees with benefits changes due to qualifying life events - confirming eligibility for changes, assisting in processing enrollment
  • Assist in open enrollment preparation, communication, and administration
  • Provide technical support in the delivery of benefit programs 
  • Responsible to ensure benefit inquiries and complaints are resolved quickly, equitably, and courteously
  • Consult and assist our Finance department with preparing and executing benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies; also assist Finance in compiling records for annual benefit plan audits
  • Assist the Finance department in the organization’s compliance with Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) provisions
  • Coordinate company benefits with government-sponsored programs. Assist with the administration of the organization’s annual Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting
  • Instruct insurance carriers and other external administrative agencies to effect changes in benefit program
  • Manage day-to-day benefit issues with brokers and carriers ensuring they provide consistent, quality service
  • Assist in processing E-Verify checks and providing follow-up as necessary
  • Prepare regular monthly reports and data tracking
  • Update standard operating procedures (SOPs), and related instructions for employees, as changes take place
  • Work with administrative team to conduct personnel file audits
  • Maintain electronic personnel files in accordance with applicable legal requirements, scan and label documents into correct files
  • Complete monthly benefits billing accurately and forward to appropriate internal contact for payment
  • Conduct New Employee Benefits Orientation
  • Serve as back-up to Payroll Specialist, processing payroll to assure employees are paid on time in accordance with federal and state wage and hour regulations; compute payroll deductions, submit payroll information to payroll vendor
  • Partner with Payroll Specialist to resolve payroll errors, troubleshoot employee concerns or questions

Qualifications

Must have’s to be our Senior Benefits Specialist!

  • Bachelor’s in HR or similar degree; HR certification and/or applicable experience may be substituted for degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in benefits related field
  • Must have high level proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn and use database systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefits
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the legal requirements mandated by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Labor (DOL), the Colorado, and the Civil Rights Division (CCRD)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, multi-tasking skills
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license/proof of insurance
  • Meet our driving requirements; no suspensions/less than 3 tickets in 3 years
