Nonprofit Management Services of Colorado (NMSC) is seeking a Database Administrator I who will be responsible for:

  • the performance, integrity and security of all databases
  • planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users
  • ensuring data remains consistent across the database, data is clearly defined, concurrent connections are established and in a form that suits the needs of end users
  • the provision of data security and recovery, ensuring all data is retrievable in an emergency

Our office is in the Denver Metro, CO area - just south of the Denver Tech Center in Englewood, CO. We’re committed to a great work-life balance here so our offices are closed on Fridays! You’ll get to work Monday - Thursday, typically doing a 10-hr day for a 40-hr workweek.

More about what you’ll get to do as our Database Administrator I

  • Manage SQL Server databases, primarily utilizing SQL Server 2008 to 2016
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system jobs and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Be responsible for all functions associated with the design, implementation and maintenance of SQL Server databases including tuning, high availability, security, backup logging, reporting and recovery procedures
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Manage transition from legacy Access 2007 front end to new replacement system
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
  • Provide both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users
  • Ensure control access permissions and privileges are up to date and accurate
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database
  • Provides excellent customer services to our internal and external customers
  • Make recommendations related to equipment needs; identify system approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale; purchase necessary equipment within the established authority and budget
  • Review/create RFP’s based on policy to procure new hardware and software systems
  • Travel to our other locations within Douglas and Arapahoe counties and the City of Aurora

Qualifications

Must have’s to be our Database Administrator I

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field and 2 years related experience
    • OR Associate’s degree in a computer related field and 3-5 years related technical work experience with maintenance, service, installation and database configuration
  • 3+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience
  • MCSA SQL certification, strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server Management Studio, SSIS, SSRS, Query Analyzer, MS SQL Stored Procedures, MS SQL Views, DTS, Jobs and Profiler
  • Advanced knowledge of database operations automation and data connectivity and data exchange services (service-oriented objects for data connectivity)
  • Balanced experiences in implementing recovery procedures and disaster recovery function to protect MS SQL databases
  • Knowledge of SQL compliant languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages such as Transact-SQL)
  • Ability to produce complex reports using Report Builder (SSIS/SSRS) and business intelligence tools
  • Ability to capture and write data to database via web application, direct software integration, or enterprise service bus
  • Experience with relational databases in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working with relational databases and performing complex SQL queries
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Microsoft SQL, SSIS, SSRS, transact SQL, MYSQL, and PL/SQL
  • Demonstrated understanding of relational database structure, normalization, and core database functionality
  • Applications skills should include a mix of MS Visual Studio, MS SQL Server 2008-2016, MS PowerShell, MS SQL Management Studio (SSMS), Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence Solutions
  • Valid CO driver license/proof of insurance/ability to meet our driving requirements
