Nonprofit Management Services of Colorado (NMSC), an affiliate of Developmental Pathways, has a fantastic opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor who will be responsible for detailed account transactions in the general ledger which could include account reconciliations, elimination entries, inter-company entry review / recap and foundation accounting. This role will provide accounting support for the preparation and presentation of timely financial statements and will be responsible for the supervision and development, coaching, and mentoring of Staff Accountants.

Our Accounting Supervisor will be based out of our Inverness office located just south of the Denver Tech Center, in Englewood, CO. We’re committed to a great work-life balance here and are flexible with our 40-hour/week work schedule - the typical work week is four 10-hour days but may be flexible.

More about what you’ll get to do as our Accounting Supervisor

  • Assist in monthly preparation, analyzing and verifying financial documents in order to provide information to executive team
  • Assist with the monthly consolidation process by:
    • Reviewing intercompany balances and eliminating entries
    • Reviewing, preparing, and adjusting journal entries necessary for consolidation
  • Preparing, maintaining, and reviewing account roll forwards analyses, and other supporting documentation for the annual audits
  • Ensure bank transactions are recorded for all cash activity, including posting deposits from Cash Receipts batches, and recording bank activity not fed from other subsidiary modules
  • Monitor bank activity on daily basis and communicating anomalies to management
  • Complete bank account reconciliations on all cash accounts and responsible for completing cash reports
  • Prepare financial documents according to department and auditor’s requirements
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports according to department and auditor requirements
  • Supervise and direct the activities of Staff Accountants
  • Provide general ledger support and complete/lead special projects as required
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, corrective action(s) and/or terminations (as needed) of employees
  • Keep supervisor up to date about significant issues within program areas; communicate and problem solve with manager regarding areas of concern and/or positive outcomes
  • Act as the liaison between finance and programs by providing accounting support and assistance with interpreting monthly financial results
  • Provide training and assistance to staff and coworkers on finance team and other employees as needed

Must haves to be our Accounting Supervisor

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or similar area is required
  • Relevant experience with/ within a multi-company organization related to consolidations
  • Strong technical U.S. GAAP knowledge
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel is required
  • A minimum of one year of management and supervisory experience in a financial environment is required
  • Ability to strategically develop, adapt and maintain systems to streamline processes
  • Ability to perform advanced math calculations required for position
  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends especially during year end and audit periods
  • Requires a high degree of accuracy with time sensitive, detailed information
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and problem-solving skills and ability to meet regular deadlines
  • Exhibit decisiveness, analytical thinking, dependability and sound judgment in work activities makes effective decisions
